Many are called but few are chosen

Many are called but few are chosen

In today’s times the Word of God is evil spoken of, due to the overwhelming number of messengers that claim that they were called by God to preach the gospel.

The call for discipleship is wide and broad and it is extended to all mankind.

Jesus once reported a certain man saying, “ Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:61-62 this man was called but not chosen.

Jesus extended discipleship to another man and he said, “Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him, let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:59-60 this man was called but not chosen.

The Bible says that any man chosen to go to war for God that is concerned or entangled In the things of this world can not fight on behalf of God, For It is written, “No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. II Timothy 2:4

If you are concern and full of cares for the things of this world, then you may be called, but you were not chosen.

God’s elect are hand picked by Him and were chosen before the foundation of the earth.

Jesus hand picked his disciples for it is written, “And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. Mark 1:17

John the Baptist was chosen before he was conceived in his mother’s womb for it is written, “ Fear not, Zachariah: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shall call his name John. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Luke 1:13 & 15

Jesus said to ananius that Paul was a chosen vessel unto him as well for it is written, “But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. Acts 9:15-16

Jesus said that all those who God has given him for the work of the kingdom will not be lost for it is written, “ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. John 10:27-30

But the Bible does say, “ and all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (Satan), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8

There are many people today representing Jesus Christ, but not all of them were chosen for it is written “ Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23

And again, “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11

The Truth of God’s word can only be delivered by a messenger that he himself has chosen to preach his truth for it is written, “ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:15

But there are many self made messengers that were not called or chosen for it is written, “ For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Titus 1:10-16

They are the uncalled teaching untruths for it is written, “For as much as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment.” Acts 15:24

Many walked with Jesus and they were called but they were not chosen for it is written, “After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.” Luke 10:1

And again these same seventy showed that they were not chosen for it is written, “ Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, this is an hard saying; who can hear it? From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him” John 6:60 &66
“Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.” John 6:64-65

Jesus said to the twelve are you going to leave also? And they responded, “ Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:68-69

Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.” John 6:70-71

Many are called but few are chosen. It is not a choice to discipleship it is a destiny if your name is written in the book of the lamb before the foundation of the earth for it is written, “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (Satan), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8

Many are called but few are chosen, Jesus already knows who it is that is falsely representing him. Jesus knows who is preaching in his name for money, preaching in his name for praise of men, preaching in his name for women, preaching in his name for fame and fortune, for their own glory.

Jesus says leave the un-chosen alone in their deeds, until the day of harvest and he will separate the chosen from the none chosen, the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats for it is written, “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” Matthew 25:31-33

Jesus also said let them alone in their religious practices stating that, “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch (Hell). Matthew 15:14

Those who are truly called know that they are chosen and will suffer and be hated by the world for Jesus namesake for it is written, “Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.” Matthew 24:9

And those that fall into the category of the many called but not chosen, will continue to believe a lie, fooling only themselves with the wide acceptance of the world, with their praise of their theologian degrees and ordinations of men, with their largely populated synagogues/churches, and their abundance of material wealth, until the day of our Lord and Savor’s return.

Then and only then will Jesus say to those who are not truly chosen, “ then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23

If you are truly chosen of God then the following is also true about you;

Paul’s ordination was not give to him by man but by God, Paul’s knowledge was not obtained by man but also given to him by God for it is written, “Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) Galatians 1:1

The Bible says, “ examine yourselves to whether you be in the truth.”

Until next time I love you,

Minister Lamar F. Porter
