Relying on the World

Relying on the World

In today’s times we are taught to believe that doing well is having an 850 credit score, that driving off the car lot with no money down is what we should look to do, that having an American Express card with no monthly limit is they way to go, we were programmed by Satan to trust in the credit of the world instead of relying on the words of Jesus Christ.

God never intended for man to live the way we are living, but Satan has programmed mankind to operate outside of the wisdom of the word of God for it is written, “Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4

The entire world operates in the system of living indebted to someone else, and the United States has not learned it’s lesson yet, when the Bible says, “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8

The number one reason why people do not show love toward one another is because they are angry at each other over unpaid debts.

Many of us have come to depend on the system of the world to provide for our everyday needs, just as the children of Israel made this same mistake when counting on Egypt to be their provider rather than God for it is written, “Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.” Isaiah 30:1-3

Jesus left us a very important message on how not to rely on the system of the world for it is written, “Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:31-34

This is a very different way of thinking from how you and I were raised in this world, to think that God would provide our every need would be unheard of.

But God provided for his people daily while they were in the wilderness for it is written, “And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wondered not what it was. And Moses said unto them, this is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an om er for every man, according to the number of your persons; take ye every man for them which are in his tents. And the children of Israel did so, and gathered, some more, some less. And when they did mete it with an om er, he that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack; they gathered every man according to his eating. And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.” Exodus 16:15-20

People have been disobedient for a long time, God wants to provide for us daily but we want to store up things so that we don’t need to trust in God to provide.

“And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” Exodus 16:28-29

Jesus teaches us not to rely on credit, not to rely on the ways of the world, but to trust in him for it is written, “And he said unto them, when I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, nothing.” Luke 22:35

Jesus sent his disciples out into the world without credit, without relying on money, without some worldly connection, to preach the gospel and they did not lack anything for it was written, “ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Many of us will not trust in the words of our Lord and Savior, but instead will trust in the world to provide their everyday needs. This world’s system will always come up short for it is written, “ But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away. I Corinthians 7:29-31

But all that will trust in the world’s system are foolish to do so for it is written, “the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” Proverbs 13:22

Look how God provided for his people, “And I have given you a land for which ye did not labor, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and olive yards which ye planted not do ye eat.” Joshua 24: 13

If we would only be smart enough to trust in the words of Jesus we would witness men giving to one another with the love of God for it is written, “ The multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.” Acts 4:32-35

God is in the giving business, not the lending business for it is written, “ Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Luke 6:38

God intended for all mankind to love his neighbor as he loves himself, not to look for opportunities to take advantage of him for it is written, “Every man according as he purpose in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver. II Corinthians 9:7

So I pray that you no longer trust in the credit of the world and look not to Egypt to help you in your time of need, but that you will turn to the Lord your God and that you begin to trust in the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, that He may gladly provide for you for it is written, “ God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.” II Corinthians 9:8

No more worldly way of living, but pray this prayer that you may never fall back into the world, “ Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” Proverb 30: 8-9

Until next time I love you
